I put in a new speedo cable on my xj650 rj. Now it doesn't register. I used a cordless drill on the end by the hub and it moves the needle but when its conected to the hub it doesn't move the needle. I took off the hub and it looks fine. Anyone else run into an issue like this?

Yepper. I had the same problem. I took off the front wheel and took off the speedo drive on the hub. There are a couple of ears on it that fit in grooves that turn the unit which in turn ,turns the cable. I found the little ears were bent enough not to grab. I just straightened them so the fit in the grooves good and put it back together and the speedo cable turned as it should. I hope this helps.

Ditto on the previous post. The ears on that match up to the hub were bent out and would not register. Definitely check those out if the cable was replaced. Good Luck! Keep us up to date!

OK, how does one bend them back? I think that's is what is happening with mine. Sometimes, the speedo works, sometimes it doesn't.

Can you just get a pair of pliers in there, because removing that little ring looks like a bear of a thing to do.

I believe I used my Gerber tool pliers. Not sure.
