Here is a beautiful Seca 550 1982, ready to go. Could use a little tune up, it runs strong to 10,000 rpm. The bike is currently shown on Bike-urious on line. Under search type in Seca 550 for pics. Price is somewhat negotiable. Email me here.

Beautiful bike. It might help if you post the price, mileage and what you have done to it.

Looks a lot like the one that was for sale in Jackson MI earlier this year but with the correct tank paint etc.

    More details? Price?

Just a couple more pics I have.

Bike was babied, had a sidecar attached to it. Kept inside and has had regular maintenance. You can see from pics how it was taken care of.

Not completely original but a beautiful bike. The sidecar mounting tabs really hurt the original look. It has an incorrect sidestand and appears to have the sidestand safety switch bypassed. It is missing the chrome grab bar below the seat. The condition of the paint on the front fork sliders and the rear shocks also doesn't match the condition of the rest of the paint. The finish on the shocks tells me that it wasn't kept inside. Is there some kind of epoxy on the oil filter housing? Looks like the red body parts and chrome were replaced to me. The right muffler and collector show damage that hurts the value. Still looks like a lot of work went into it. Good job. Fix those few things and do the engine maintenance and you might get what you are asking.

Thanks for the critique? I think? The paint is original, the forks were scratched from a mounting rack from a trailer, there is no epoxy on the oil filter. The grab rail was removed from the bike as I did not like the look, the finish on the shocks, how astute. The muffler has had battery acid leaked on it.

So, I guess I can assume you're not be interested in the bike? I THINK you may have been trying to be kind, but you are off on your critique. Now I have this comment of yours on my listing, and I do not think it is real fair. ( You are correct on the sidestand a 20 dollar part )

Maybe, you should have asked me first about your questions .

That's a pretty sharp-looking bike! The shock springs are flat-black just like mine, does not look incorrect. All red 550r's that I've seen have black rear springs.

Paint looks really good-- someday mine will be as nice.

Your fairing is awesome! I have a lot of work to do to mine for crack repair before it'll look that good.

I would worry about the acid stain.... That's common. At least you have shines original exhaust stuff-- I have pipes and collector, but a PO put straight turnout mufflers on it.... So the search is on.

I dont think that I personally would have put a sidecar on a Bike as small as a 550, but it's cool that you did. I think those brackets are neat, and it makes sense that you would have removed the side stand.... Don't need it with a side car attached.

A chrome standing handle would be a nice flashy thing to see, but again, with the sidecar attached you'd never have need to use it. But, if you have it in a box, that and the side stand might be a negotiating chip for you.

Very pretty bike, you should easily get a good sale from it.

Thanks Dave, appreciate the good word. Good Luck in getting your bike together. It was not a great bike for the side car as it needed an engine with more torque and less rev. These as you know are amazing above 6,000 rpm. These are very good bikes, the Seca is kinda cool with the fairings and the round lights like the 650. Ride On!!!

I wasn't trying to bash your bike. I said several times how beautiful it is. I was actually just pointing out some items that a buyer would point out to get the price way down and how you could fix them to insure a better price. Since I have owned 5 of these bikes over the last 30 years, and still own my first one, I know what to look for. All of the items I pointed out are easy fixes if you decide to do them. My critique was also very fair. I have been buying and selling bikes for 30 years. I have even worked for several dealerships. If you didn't want comments posted or questions asked in the open forum, you shouldn't have listed it on an XJ enthusiast forum. If I noticed these things, many others will too. Again, beautiful bike.

Zombie, I know you think you are an expert on these bikes. That is fine and great. But really who needs your critique, as I said in my earlier post if you were interested in buying, email me. If it is not as good as one of yours then it's OK with me. And it is a great bike thank you.

The only thing you proved to me was that you think you know everything on these bikes. And from some of your statements made I know you are wrong. If you put a critique out you should expect to get critiqued. This is a forum.

Keep the expert attitude at home. Answer questions when asked. Be helpful, it works better.

    You did not help me.

You came to our forum only to sell your bike. You have contributed nothing. You wouldn't get upset unless you are trying to hide something from the members here. Don't like the input, go somewhere else to sell your bike. You came here because it cost you nothing. I have also rebuilt these bikes from the frame up so I know what I am talking about. What exactly do you think I am wrong about? If you disagree with something I said, explain why you feel I am wrong. It is better that you just explain why you feel I am wrong than getting all bent out of shape.

    I am tired of you.
Yes I did come to sell a Very Nice bike. Is there a problem putting an ad on here? Do I need your approval? Just read your post again.

    (You say some crazy things)

And now you say I am "hiding something"

    Paint? Shocks? Epoxy??

I think these are all baloney.

This is a great bike despite all of your false question marks.

For any buyers, come and talk, look it over and make YOUR OWN judgement.

Look at the pics, if you have questions feel free to ask.

    Happy to answer.

    NOTHING TO HIDE

    USE YOUR OWN EYES !

I'll post my .02. Sam, very nice bike and we appreciate the fact you didn't list it as mint etc. etc. like the SR guy did. I also appreciate Zombies comments as I do not know much about the Seca's and would have no idea what to look for if I was in the market for one.

These forums are a wealth of knowledge and full of guys that live/breathe these things. That's why I joined, I'm midway into my Maxim restoration and love the knowledge here. These guys also have keen eyes and there's always ones like the guys at the car show that will point out the wrong hubcaps and incorrect hood gaps without saying anything else about the car you spent 5 years on.

Good luck with the sale! My favorite XJ and color.

Too funny...LMAO. I'd list mine as "WTFO (wore the f!@k out) '82 650 MAXIM FOR SALE" cause if i ever sell it that's what it'll be.
