I ran across this forum when I ordered a YICS tool from Len's website. I was wondering if there are any folks who have owned the same (VIN) XJ bike for a long time (10 years, 20 years, etc.). My 1983 XJ750K was bought new by my favorite cousin who sold it to me when he and his ex-wife parted ways in 1991. The only major work in 24 years of ownership was a top end gasket job to stop a minor oil leak. Thanks for participating in this thread if you choose to do so.

    I bought my 1982 XJ650RJ Seca in 1986, so that's 29 years for me.
The bike has been through few quite a few changes since then. So have I, for that matter. But we are both still going strong.

I was 10 when Dad took me to the dealership to pick out the Seca. I remember looking at Virago's and Maxims before falling for the Seca. In 2000 he handed over the reigns so 15 years with me 19 with Dad. No major issues to report at 26k miles.

I am the original owner of my bike.....bought it in 1982 in Grand Junction, CO......I believe the price tag back then was about $2,750........have had it ever since.......

I am also guilty of neglect as well over the 32+ yrs......but have recently restored back to its original beauty......

Very nice fiveofakind! I owned a 1981 650 maxim 20 years, sold it bought a Sportster, big mistake, sold it. Bought a 750 maxim and 750 seca. The only other bike that I would think about buying is a Triumph bonneville or a Kawasaki kz 1000. The yamahas will be with me till I cann't ride no more!

That is not really true, and hasn't been since the AMF years....though there is still that self-destructive compensator business on the big twin-cams that is not so cool.
