Help me with identification and restoration

    Hey Guys,

    Been a long time. I found this Yamaha here in India. Now sadly I am left with little choice than to get into restoration since very few good ones are available here and importing a good one is impossible due to the regulations.
    I need help with the identification of this bike. Also is there some way to know through the chassis number or something?
    The only upside with this bike is that it starts! :p
    The deal hasnt gone through. If someone could give me an idea about tentative costs for restoration, it will help me understand whether it is worth pursuing it or not. Many thanks.     That's a 80 or 81 XS1100 motor and frame with parts from who knows what to make it roll.
    The 82 xj11 has different alternator and timing covers.

    You are lucky in that because it's a bitsa you can do whatever you want to and it will be better than it started out.

    Def xs1100 after 78 model year kick start shaft removed and front fork and wheel from honda v45 or 65 Magna note the built in fork brace oops no that's a v65 sabre with the spoiler on fender

    I agree that parts from other motorcycles are bolted on. But knowing its India, I think it cant be from the larger displacement and imported bikes. But cant say for sure

    Akaliwala,

    This is a legitimate forum. We aren't about making members feel bad about a purchase and we are sincere in that when you join or visit we will be honest (even if it sounds brutal) with the information and advice given to insure the rider is safe and has a truly road worthy bike. What you do from there is on you. With that said and if this is what you seek you'll need to do a strip down and engine out restoration. That bike has way too much "not right" going on. Just because it starts and runs doesn't mean it'll do it for long and certainly doesn't make it safe. We don't set our members up for "a accident that will happen". Just a little food for thought.
