My Seca in May of 1983, shortly after I got it, with the tank bag I bought because I was going to tour the world.;). The second picture is from today, 32 years and 3 months later at the same spot at High Cliff state park.

But as time tells all you are probably a bit longer in the tooth than you bike!:)
If I can guess on the math you might be twice as old as your bike or close to it

Did you get her new, I got mine summer of 81 early release silver (nonYics) of 82 model red RJC (withYICS) ones showed up in September. one of the first shipment in vancouver our staff at the shop took the first 4 we had them out of the box Friday afternoon yamaha and customers were choked. We rode all over town to other dealers to show them off. And we got another 6 on the Monday and they were all sold and delivered within hours. No deals on those bikes they were the hottest bike on the market from Yamaha!

Working at a bike shop I was changing bikes almost every month. Why not, buy them at cost plus$50 ride it and sell to the first guy who wants it usually after models sold out. Shortest time was 81 750 seca got 365 kilometres on it in 4days and poof gone. Just before I got the 650.

The top photo was taken with an Olympus OM 10 with a 50 mm lens most likely using 100 speed Fuji film as that was my preferred film. Don't ask what the lens was stopped down to or the shutter speed, my memory isn't that good. ;)

The bottom was taken on my LG G3. Obviously the film picture is a scan but just goes to show you the advancement in small cameras. If I still had that tank bag I could have brought my Canon EOS and taken a pic with that. :)

I keep forgetting about that. All canadian seca's came with coolers.
I'm sure one of the gang has a spare cooler and hardware sitting around. Would be a period correct add on!

Funny that up north we got oil coolers, and down south y'all didn't. And can anyone explain why the 750 secas DON'T have them? You'd think the larger displacement engine would burn hotter.

Yamaha got early shipment as a test after great clambering from dealers about needing a bike to compete with GS 650e ... Instant hit!
Bumped into Tony Cording last month, ex president at yamaha Canada back in the 80's. Had a quick chat about the good old days. That was when dealer shows in Toronto were fun, copious drinking!!

If I recall you didn't have a national 55MPH speed limit at the time.

Hmm... I thought the speed limits were put up to counter the OPEC fuel crisis. Wasn't that the 70's? Too young to know, wasn't hatched yet... Don't get to say that too often anymore!
Boo to speed limits! It seems like every few election cycles, some politician kicks around the idea of raising the limit (since everyone drives 10 over the limit anyways), but then they'd really hit you with big fines for speeding.

The national 55mph limit was for that reason in '74, and was in effect until 1995 (modified in '87 to allow 65MHP limits in some rural areas).

Speed limits are important. Without them closing speed differentials (traveling the same direction) get to be ridiculous, and that's when serious trouble happens.
