What tank is this?

    Im trying to figure out what tank this is. Currently building an 83 xj550 maxim.

    Looks like it may be from that Honda it's sitting on. Looks like a CB400. The tank from a Yamaha XS750 looks similar and would be easier to fit (maybe)

    Damn. Matti is a guy who likes quad exhausts. Isn't there a super rare 4 exhaust setup for XJ400s? Why always the small bikes with the 4 pipes!?!

    Almost looks like a CB200 tank, minus the naugahyde stripe down the back.

    Does look like oem honda tank cap from cb750/cx500 black stipe along bottom gives it a diff look.
    Appears to have the large cap with flip latch lock .

    Well, regarding Honda's, I can certainly say that it IS NOT a cb400 hawk tank, which has the gas cap covered by a piece of folding metal. Sorry I can't help otherwise.

    Not an early 78-79 with metal lid but could be 80-82 cb400-450 hawk tank was similar to 750-900-1100F tank

    Yep. The CB400 was around for a long time, and in several states of trim.
