Well I got a new MAC 4 into 2 megaphone system. Looks great but, doesn't fit worth a damn. The header pipes fit but doesn't have room for gaskets. The middle section interferes with the center stand and brake lever. I manage an auto parts store and the part number maches fine. I emailed the seller hoping to hear back soon.

The old pipes were beveled and didn't have gaskets. They didn't leak either.

I have Manny of MAC's email address if you want to contact the manufacturer directly. He's not, uh, horribly responsive, but maybe if the lot of us contact him he'll get his quality control in line and then when we're all out of OEM pipes from eBay, we have somewhere to turn.

Mine is an 81 XJ 650, i would like the email address, yes. You would expect a 415 dollar exhaust to relatively fit.

The old pipes did have gaskets. You might want to pull your headers and have a look. You'll find that the old gaskets are still in there and need to be pried out with a small screwdriver or pick.

It seems MAC is about the only company that knows there's money to be made manufacturing a aftermarket exhaust system for these bikes. Maybe EMGO will come up with something.

+1. The new system must have them also. The oem copper crush is best.

To clarify; the header gaskets will be in the exhaust ports.

MAC is just the only company with a large U.S. distributor. There are at least three manufacturers fo aftermarket exhausts for the XJ series(s).

It fits and sounds great ! No exhaust manifold gaskets were required at all which is odd. My buddy and I just had to bend the center stand foot peg out. I'm thinking I getting a weld on kick stand for it.

There should already be a bracket for a kickstand welded to the lower left frame rail.
