Can I take a complete 550 motorcycle and swap everything to a new 650 frame? I know there are differences in chain/shaft drive. Just curious how similar they are? Thanks

With enough time and $$$, anything is possible! But barring unlimited amounts of either, the quick answer is No, the longer answer is Hell No.

    But it is do-able, conceptually.

    What he said ^^

You would need to fabricate new engine mounting points on the frame, modify the 550 swingarm, and tackle whole host of other smaller (but no less complex) details. Plan on it being a multi-year (part-time) project of you decide to take on such a swap.

it would be nice if the frame on the 550 was a little taller in the seat giving a little more leg room to the pegs, but i do not think the swap off is worth it, exta weight of the frame lower gas mileage more stress on the motor. Putting on forward controls would be cheaper

Since there will be fabrication involved: Putting two xj550 engines in a xj650 frame = funner :)
Though building a V-8 from the pair and keeping them in a 550 frame would be even more fun.

Not necessarily. He'd probably only be able to keep the front wheel on the ground @ 25mph max... if that.

I like how with the clear fuel lines on the v-twin, you can watch each carb sucking up gas like a kid sucking up soda! How much torque does that beast make? Insane!

The V12 is at Barber's, it is amazing to look at. An inline 6 engine doesn't give you enough grunt? Double it up!
