I have a 4-1 exhaust system that was fitted on a 750 seca. I got it with the piece in the photo broken.

It looks to me like there are a few bikes that use the same kind of piece to hold the headers onto the block.

If anyone out there has an old rusted out exhaust and would be willing to sell me one of these I would appreciate it.

How do you expect to put that onto a 4/1 pipe? You can't separate the pipes to slip it on!

Hey hogfiddles: the pipes I have do not come apart, but the parts I am looking for can slide right on and off of the headers. There are separate little half-round pieces that seal the headers to the block. You wouldn't happen to have any bits like this laying around would you? I think almost all of the early xj's used the same pieces for this function.

Hogfiddles knows exactly what youre talking about, and how they fit onto the pipe. The exhaust collars cannot go onto the header pipes after the ends have been welded to the collector (as in a 4-1 system). The collars work by placing pressure on the wide end of the exhaust pipe, and can't slip over that end. You'll need to have a pair of half-collars made to effect a repair. Each half collar will have a pair of holes for the exhaust studs and the pair will act together to form a full ring.

Unless..... your header uses cone wedges doesn't it?
    Like these?

In that case you can find exhaust collars all over e-bay, though it would be better to get them from the exhaust manufacturer as they may be of a different internal diameter than the stock Yamaha parts.

Thanks for the reply k-moe. In the photo above the tapered parts to the right of the muffler are different in my system. They are only half circles in my system. Are those the cone wedges?

No disrespect meant to you or Hogfiddles. You both know way more than I do. I just wasn't explaining myself well and didn't know what to call things.

Yes. At least that's what I've always called them. The actual term is probably different.
