I ordered the XJCD over a month ago now and have not received anything. This is getting rediculous It is so stupid not to have an ISO downloadable online, or attatchment or something. Who is Brad and why dont he cash my check and send me the CDs or at least answer my emails. Not very good business.

Brad is most likely busy with his business and his two new kids. I understand your frustration. This is why I never ordered version 3 of the XJCD. Version 4 is out now and I am undecided as to ordering it. I want it and for $10 it is well worth it. Would be nice to have the parts cross reference feature. But the XJowners group is a tight cliche' and not open to improving the current situation. I think it would be a good idea to have Snow handling the CD's for xjbikes.com

    Forget about the XJ-CD.

    Get the YAMAHA Workshop Manual.
THAT is really ALL you need!

And ... easier to Open and Read.

sorry for the original negative post, but I get home from work today and check the mail, and was just disapointed, and needed some place to vent.

Gentlemen, I got you beat on the wait, one year. That is correct, one year I waited. I understand your frustrations but BlueMax is right, Brad is a VERY busy guy and he is doing the XJ world in general a BIG favor. Best bet is to 1. Try to email him, failing that 2. email Dwayne Verhay(?). He is listed in our member registry and will get back to you rather quickly (witness my issues from June of this year). Give the above a shot and get back to me here at this thread, I will keep an eye out. If you still have not heard back in a week, I will get in touch with Dwayne. Fair enough?

Hmmm, then if Brad is so tied up is there noone else who can take over the job for him. Seems as if he is in need of some assistance. What should we say to Dwayne Verhay if we already sent the check to Brad?
And while we're on the subject... where does one obtain the service manual of which Rich speaks so highly?

Wow, I feel fortunate to have received my XJCD in about 10 days. Great info, and the cross-ref is very useful. Also have the Clymers which covers several years and models and is a good "general" manual.
But I found the Yamaha factorepair manual for my bike on eBay for around $15. As Rick said, it is hands down the BEST repair manual as it is SPECIFIC to the EXACT bike (XJ550RH)..

When I finally get my XJCDs I will be willing to donate my time and money to set up and maintain an FTP site for the ISOs so all who orders the XJCDs dont have to spend their life waiting for it. The FTP site is only 5 bucks a month for 500 GB storage and 5000 GB bandwith.

I'd be very careful about posting the XJCD there Energi2er, as the contents are copyright protected. We've had problems with folks in the past who did post the contents and were promptly confronted to cease and desist by the authors. I understand the great desire to get this great information but this is the way the system is right now and more than a few heads have tried to figure out a way to make it simpler to obtain or post online. Please try to work it out with Brad and Dwayne, it may take a bit but it is worth it. If you have a solution to the problem of offering the content online, please pass on your suggestion to Dwayne. He'd love to hear from you. I'll see if I can't get permission to pass out his email tonight.

Just so everyone monitoring this thread knows, Energi2er contacted me today by e-mail and I'm trying to sort out what happened to his uncashed cheque and why Brad hasn't responded to e-mail inquiries. We'll get him his CD set one way or the other.

Robert, my e-mail address is no big secret. It's posted publicly on Dave Jackson's website. verhey at surenet dot net. (I don't really know why I bother obscuring my addy like that -- I get 90 spams a day as it is ;-)

Thanks for the heads up Dwayne, hope this irons out some wrinkles. As always, we're glad you are available. I have yet to visit the site you mention, I'll check it out today!
    Edit:
Correction, I have been to that site but it was over two years ago and I didn't know any of you folks at the time. Didn't connect the dots it seems (short memory). Still http://www.micapeak.com/lists/XJ-OWNERS/FAQ is very useful to those of you interested in additional information about our brothers over on the other side of the isle. Thanks fellas!

I finally got my XJCDs today...

    One problem:

CD1 and CD 2 are exactly the same..

both load with the same HTM file, and have the same exact publications.

Is it supposed to be this way?

In a word: no. Disk 2 is the publications. Disk 1 is ads, articles, writeups from the various carb clinics, etc.

Get ahold of Brad/Dwayne/someone and let them know what happened. They'll make it right for you.

Glad you got them. Whoops happens. Got some DVDs from AniMusic.com and they sent me 3 of one and 1 of another when I ordered two sets. Contacted them and they sent me a complimentary DVD to fill in my order. Very nice of them. Let me keep the extra. Guess my sister will be the lucky recipient of that one.

What up. I just joined the forum, I'm from new brunswick canada and I'm new to internet things like this. Got myself a 85' maxim x 750 a couple summers ago, second bike I'v ever owned. The poor thing looks like it was left outside over the winter for a couple years and it's a little dinged up. The engin was completely stripped and cleaned i was told and when it works it works great. My main problem at the moment it the leaky petcock but i shouldn't have too much trouble fixing that up ( lots of great info. at <http://www.maxim-x.com/index.html>). hopefully you guys will be able to help me out with future problems. its an honour to be a part of the group. how does one go about getting an xjcd?
