There is some interesting, and some questionable, information in that article.

I like the frame. I would have been interested to know what mods he made to safely (I assume) raise the red line to 10500. I am skeptical that the ignition has been changed to CDI or that the heads have been modified to turn it into a 16 valve motor as this article reports.

Ignition change isn't hard, there's any number of kits and I know at least one person who made their own, as for the head they've just got that wrong, I have the original magazine somewhere with that article in it

so i was thinking of turboing my yx600 motor but i would have to get difrent carbs but it lookes like the made it so that the turbo is inbetween the hed and the carbs so you dont need a special carb?

True, but it's much more common that people assume any pointless ignition system is CDI. I think it's much more likely that it's still TCI, although, depending on whether they're getting enough fuel under load, they may have changed the controller for it to a programmable one, so they could retard the timing a bit and help prevent detonation.

I'm using Hitachi coils off a Saturn on mine, and Microsquirt driving them... but it's still regular TCI-type dwell ignition, not CDI.
