The stock headlight on my just-acquired Seca 650 is hazy inside. Any tips on how to clean inside the headlight without damaging the reflector?

It is a sealed unit that likely has a small hole or crack in it. You'll need a replacement.

Probably rubbing alcohol, they're awfully tough to get clean....note to k-moe, the XJ650 Seca models used a modular headlight unit (replacable bulb) rather than a sealed-beam!

Good to know. I thought the DOT had mandated sealed beams until '85.

It's not a sealed beam (H4), no holes. Probably, someone in its past put inferior or dirty bulbs in it.

A damp warm cloth with a dab of mild detergant and the ole' trusty all purpose coat hanger with a small loop on the end might get the main crud then what Chacal advised.

Not for motorcycles or garbage trucks. It was 1983 (decision) / 1984 (model year) when H4s became legal for use in US cars.

i put 2 or 3 paper towels and a drop of dish soap, filled it with water and shook the hell out of mine. after you drain the paper towels out make the last rinse with hot distilled water, no spots.
