Adjusting cam chain tension on a 1981 XJ650LH

    Working on the carbs and the tensioner is very accessible. Is there any trick involved in adjusting this? It looks like you back off the jam nut, back off the stop bolt a couple of turns and then reverse the order. Would it be a good idea to tap on the adjuster housing a couple of times while the stop bolt is loose? Thanks.

    you have to set the crank to proper position first.
    take off the left side crankshaft cover set mark "C" to timing pointer
    loosen then tighten bolt your done
