Noticed some white smoke so I pulled the plugs a little glossy black not much and fairly recent no build up stuck my finger in the oil and smells of gas thought maybe I left petcock on prime by accident and the crank case filled with fuel, I did and it did. I turned the petcock back to on changed out the oil and fuel changed the filters and put in some marvel mystery oil. Still experiencing a little white smoke mostly from condensation at start up then very intermittently (running stock pipes with no baffles might need to tube carbs) I'm not getting any more fuel dumping into the cylenders but the petcock itself is leaking on the outside all over the underside of tank and running down the engine I've also noticed the wires underneath and screws holding the petcock to tank are all gummed up with what looks like honey any ideas? Can I rebuild petcock with this particular problem or do I need a new one? And the white smoke, possible from carbs needing a re-jet or is it definitely oil getting past the rings or valves

    Ride with a fire extinguisher.

Your floats are amuck, even leaving the petcock on prime shouldn't cause gas to over flow into the crank.
Fix your leaking petcock ASAP. XJ4Ever sells rebuild kits.
Honey comes from bees, look for a colony living under your tank.

When is the last time your carbs were rebuilt?
Are you saying you are essentially running straight pipes? I was always told that if you mess with air in or exhaust out that your troubleshooting will get to be a lot more interesting . . . Maybe someone else who really knows can chime in.

Tank is already off so is petcock ordered a rebuild kit yesterday carbs need cleaning and a sync yes straight pipes still going 4-2 should have minimal problems not just four straight pipes there is still enough back pressure not actually honey just the consistency and of course if you mess with air in exhaust out it's going to get interesting

Carbs also need new float needles and seats. Cleaning them won't keep them from leaking fuel.
The stock exhaust is fairly free-flowing, so you should be fine running stock jets.
Tehat honey-looking gunk is varnish. The petcock and petcock-to-tank o-ring have been leaking for a long time if you have that going on.

I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track I just bought this bike in September I'm diagnosing and tackling each issue as they come
I'll Probably be best off just doing a whole rebuild

Probably. But the only other parts that would absolutely need to be replaced are the throttle shaft seals (which I would leave alone unless you have a hanging idle or other reason to suspect a vacuum leak).

Include in that TLC the need to replace the brake lines and rebuild the calipers, along with replacing the brake pads and linings. Everything that is going to cause you trouble will be a part that has aged out.
