PO installed some drag bar handlebars on the bike. I really like the look of it and want to keep it, however because of this the master cylinder doesn't have enough clearance to attach to the bars. I need some risers but don't have a set of calipers to accurately find out which ones I need.

    Anyone have any idea? Thanks

    Edited for ridiculous typos.

Could you let us know which model XJ you have please? There are several master cylinders that come stock. A photo of the bar setup would also help.

The stock master cylinder won't work on these bars as it would be all kinds of slanted. The bike is an '83 XJ750 midnight Maxim.

Your master cylinder has a 16mm bore. Any good quality 16mm bore master cylinder will do. If you want it to say YAMAHA on the cover then you can source one from a Seca 650, XJ900, FJ600, 1977-1984 dual disc XS650, and I don't know what else, but there are lots of options. Depending on what you get, you may need to do a little wiring to accommodate a non-Yamaha brake lever switch. If you want a brend-new master cylinder, member Chacal has them in stock.

I've already found what MC I'll be picking up. The real reason for this post is to source a set of handlebar risers. I need about an extra half inch or inch of clearance.

    AHHH. I misunderstood.

I like Roxx risers. They are a bit spendy, but they add a fair amount of adjustability.
You have the triple with the lower half of the bar clamp cast as part of the riser, so that is the easiest option. Option 2 would require that the triple be machined to remove the built in clamp, and holes bored for bolt-on risers. Option 3 would be to fit different bars that have some built in rise (this would be the least-expensve option).

awesome thanks for the help! I like these bars but new bars are definitely cheaper than the rox risers. We'll see what happens!

    Thanks again.
