I have a 83 XJ750MK that is in dire need of carb rebuilding. I know that the carbs are the stock HSC32 carbs. Like I said, they are in need of rebuilding.

It has a 4 into 1 exhaust but don't know if the carbs are jetted for it. Whenc i try to start it, it wont start sometimes, and if it does, it'll bog down and die. When I ride it when it is started, it spotters and bogs like crazy! I've been searching for information on this for a while and came across this site, which is a life saver! If anyone could please help me out with any information, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

use the search forums feature and read some info about crab cleaning. You have already identified the carbs as a problem and they probably are... especially if that bike has sat for a long time or not been maintained.

Has it been running okay and just started acting up or is this a new project? Give some background information.

I just bought it about 3 weeks ago. The guy I bought it from said that he bought it from an older man who pretty much let it sit in his garage. Now, the man I bought it from rode it for like 600 miles and said it still sounded like crap. It had the same sputtering effects and bog-downs as it did when the 2nd buyer, the man I purchased it off of, bought it. Like I said HE rode it for 600 miles and it still has the same problems. I've gotten a couple of opinions and they say its the carbs, which I agree with.

I would concurr that the carbs are the most likely suspect. Take them off and give them a thorough cleaning. Be careful of rubber parts (don't let them get in contact with carb cleaner).

There are several excellent posts on cleaning up and then adjusting and tuning the carbs so read all that before you proceed. The end result will suprise you.
