    Yeah I did the California coast to Ft. Collins CO (~1300 mi) in just under 24 hrs in one shot and I was wiped, I cannot even imagine doing what he did.

    Granted I was always within 5-10 of the speed limit, and on my 750 Maxim without a windshield but still, damn!

    So he must have averaged a speed of around 72mph. He must have have a lot of bandits taking the tickets and spotting the smokies.

    Also - seems like a bit of a waste - I mean how much beer can you transport in those bags?

    First "Cannonball" record was 11 days. Now it's down to under 40 hours. Maybe the paved road is the greatest invention for motorbikes!

    taking into account pit stops it's probably more like 80. Then take into account that this is average so for every hour of 50mph due to traffic, construction, cops etc he's doing 100 elsewhere. Then think about doing 100mph after riding for more than 20 hours -- I bet the last 18 were slower so basically he did 180 through the desert and chilled out the rest of the way.

    I meant BACON, didn't think about not having any bacon on that road trip. . . . yeah, that's it, bacon, not butt.

    Really though, my first thoughts were mental fatigue and fueling. Then in that article there was mention of physical posterior comfort. Cripes if I ride more than an hour and a half on a difficult road surface my arse hates me. 39 + hours - aaaaaaaggghhhhhh!
