Hello everyone, bought my xj last fall. She rode until it got cold and then broke down. As of right now, first gear no longer works. So a dremmel fix is in the near future. Just cleaned the carbs and replaced the float needles. I still cant get her to start very easily, and I noticed that gas will drip from the airbox... There is a lot of work to be done on her, but thats why I got her! That, and she is stunningly beautiful. 12874134_10154067312181457_1503584061_o.jpg

    Fabulously gorgeous!
I did reply to your link here:

Your floats need to be adjusted/ unstuck if you have gas in your airbox.
I am only familiar with an XJ650 Maxim with Hitachi carbs.
These links may be of help with your gas in air box issue. The first is for dry setting, which doesNOT replace wet setting but can (in my case) get you in spec. However it appears you have Mikuni's and the dry setting link infers that Mikuni's are not as easy as the Hitachi's.

In the other thread there is a link to The Shop in Bay View, they are a good source for help.
BUT (and that's a big but) you will find excellent help right here and for a lot less $$$.
There is also a great source for parts here - XJ4Ever link in the upper right hand corner, as convenient as The Shop maybe, the customer service from XJ4Ever is top notch - seriously, ask around here. There is also a shim pool here for when you need to adjust your valve clearances.

So dive in (sounds like you have bike wrenching experience) and ask questions here, this is one of the greatest communities on the World Wide Web.

Well thank you for the welcome! Let me know when you are riding in Milwaukee again and I would be happy to join you. Otherwise, I will surely be taking mine up north this summer. I have been using XS11.com to troubleshoot some of my issues. I would prefer an XJ dedicated site, though!
