While it's not a Yamaha, I finally dropped the coin on a brand new 2015 Honda CTX 700N.
I've been looking at buying one for a good while now and I got a price from the local dealer that I could live with.
Of course the day after I bring it home, the temperatures drop down to in the 40's and rainy.

I did manage to get 43 miles on it Friday after I picked it up and it's strange to ride after knocking around on my old 550.
So far I like it, and it's definitely not an XJ.

Oh, don't worry, the old girl is still with me, that bike holds a special place in the garage and I don't see me getting rid of her anytime soon.
I guess I'll just have to devote more time to riding this season so they both get used!

I will, on Tuesday, after work, when the temperature is in the 60's. ;)

I tried one on at a dealership. They are comfy, even with the forward pegs.

I don't have quite 100 miles on it yet, but I really like it so far. It fits me, just like my XJ does.
I've got to admit that it's a bit more comfortable than my XJ, but it doesn't sound near as good.
I like my old XJ, it's fun and it's paid for. I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.

To be honest though, the CTX has the XJ beat in just about every department, but there's just something about the XJ that I love, I can't really explain it, but I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about.

And yeah, the forward pegs is the hardest thing for me to get used to, but I think I've adjusted well so far.

And the mid 60MPG (or better for some people) isn't bad either.

That colour doesn't appeal me very much I like the design and the look. Is it a twin-engine?

If I could have changed anything on it, I would have been the color.

Yes, it's a parallel twin, liquid cooled.

A guy I know sells motorcycle coloring kits. Comes in cans and he'll even assemble the kit for you if you don't have the time. He's even got a new kit that comes on a roll and you just lay over the existing color.

From the pic i looks like the silver colored parts may be fairly easy to remove, you could probably remove them and recover them with plasti dip for a color change, it then peels off and you have your original color undamaged. I have tested it on my xj750 tank and it worked well.

    That's a good looking tank.
Just googled and I like the idea of having a small compartment in there.
    Congrats on the new bike

My roommate has a 2014 and his is a automatic! Kinda weird not using a clutch and shifter but a comfortable ride!

After reading about owners with the automatic model, I kind of wish I had bought one with the automatic.
But then, I'm not really sure what I would do with my left foot.

That's one of the things that drew me to looking at the NC700x (cousin to this bike) when they were launched. If the compartment on this is the same size, it is big enough to fit my FF helmet.

    It's not.
It's small. The sticker on it says the weight capacity is 1lb.

A pair of gloves, a cellphone, a pack of smokes will fit in there, and none of them at the same time.

So does it have a bigger fuel tank then? Same engine, same main frame, something has to be significantly different.

Nevermind. I just remembered that the NC has the tank under the seat. the CTX has it in the usual place so the seat height can be lower.
