Hey guys changed my rear diff oil and I didn't realize I bought 80w-90. I went ahead and changed it because the oil in their looks original. Will 80w-90 be ok or should I change it.
Also I ordered a shim that was marked in the manual(260) but gave me a clearance of .08 instead of .06 on the intake side. Should I buy a (265)shim and fix that or is it not a big deal ?
    Thanks in advance

Ha I do those would be bad clearances. I used a feeler gauge. The manual says a 260 should be the shim needed if you have a 275 installed and have no clearance on the intake side. The valve clearance forum post has a different chart. My clearance is .008 on the intake side.

Post up your clearances in the following format and several of us will check your work.

    Intake:

#1 measurement - current shim -shim you need
#2 measurement - current shim -shim you need
#3 measurement - current shim -shim you need
#4 measurement - current shim -shim you need

    Exhaust:

#1 measurement - current shim -shim you need
#2 measurement - current shim -shim you need
#3 measurement - current shim -shim you need
#4 measurement - current shim -shim you need

As mentioned, you are using SAE feeler gauges with metric equivalents stamped on them. Round to the nearest hundredth ans the table makes more sense. Knowing that the shim sizes come in 0.05 mm increments makes the math easy if you don't have the table handy.

The table for the XJ650J is entirely wrong and should not be used. The information in http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/posts/122016/ is correct

If you have a measurement of 0.00 then you need to get a very thin shim so you can get an accurate measurement. Simply putting in the shim listed for 0.00 clearance is a gamble. If your clearance is more than 0.00, then you can use the shim listed in the table.
