but i think i hate Phillips screws more...

ive been putting in black socket head cap screws in place of the factory cadmium plated (or whatever they are) and im currently replacing all of the phillips head screws on my carb rack with socket head cap screws...

on the engine side of the rack there is a bracket that runs the entire width of the rack. do the carb holders require a lot of clearance there, necessitating the use of button head screws or can i use the cap screws?

ill get pictures of the rack together and show you in a day or two...

ive also replaced the hex head bolts on the shifter and brake levers and utilized cap screws there as well...

I did the same thing with all of my projects...

Those hex head screws or bolts should be from the factory.

    Check out this thread: http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic ... rt=45.html

Chacal sells all sorts of new/oem/upgrade hardware and other goodies for our bikes..

This is what you are looking for (make sure you look through the whole thread, he's got a LOT of stuff!) -- I just put the black oxide varieties, but there are other finishes available:

Dude, Metric is the only way to go! Fractional doesn't hold a candle to the simplicty and ease of metric systems. I have both and I'll take metric over SAE any day of the week, it's a no-brainer. Figuring out the next size smaller or larger is bloomin' easy compared to fumbling about mentally trying to figure out the next size in fractional.
Another source, though I am all for supporting our brother in the trade Chacal, is McMaster-Carr. They carry just about everything.
