    Hi again,

Just finished refurbishing a petcock for an XJ900F and about to attach it to the newly painted gas tank.

Apart from the O ring (or Oval ring as it sits in the groove), is this sufficient for a tight non leaking fit to the tank?

Would the addition of a gasket sealant or something like Yamabond or similar spread around the area of the O ring be a recommended added security against petrol leaking through?

    Many thanks!

    No sealant, just the o-ring.

you also need the asbestos-like washers to seal around the two petcock bolts, obviously.

    Thanks for that.

Yes I have the original washers and screws. A slight clean up and they'll be used to mount the petcock back on the tank tomorrow.
