Starter problem so I thougjt

    I'm kinda new to the xj life but I'm not a pro manicanic sos I've done the shims no problem with chacal help but now I changed the oil an put in a little to much an somehow it get in to the starter motor an messes up the brushes an I took it apart an replaced them an wall LA it worked but a few months later I changed the oil again an the same I add to much like a dumbass again an I took the starter out an cleaned it an like a dumby I didn't take the positive wire off the battery an when I was putting it back in I araked it out an now I can't get power to the key or to any of the stuff the turn signals or anything Ive tried everything I know so if any one can shed some light please

    check the main fuse and the rest of the fuses
    check the wire at the battery you may have melted it

    check the ground wires from battery too could have melted the one to frame small wire at the motor ground

    there are a lot of oil seals in the starter.
    there was a thread before on this was it yours?

    Where's the main fuse at the old school round cylinder one the glass is cracked but the wire is still whole

    bike are you talking about xj 700

    wire can be whole and broken from caps change it

    thats your main fuse the rest are in the cluster i think

    Disconnecting the (-) should be done first and will remove power to your bike.
