Open to ideas. Don't need anything super sporty. Good traction, long wearing. Mostly riding in town, some longer highway stuff as well.

So far my Dunlop arrowmax is working well... don't really think the metzlers really held up too good though.

Wide tires have almost 0.0002% more contact patch than narrow tires do. Wide tires also increase the distance needed for the tire to rotate through when leaning the bike, slowing the turn-in. Wide is good when the bike is built for wide (to a point).

    Wimpy tires......

I know this is an old thread, But it is relevant to my confusion...

I had a new arrival this past weekend. A beautiful 82 Seca 650! She's doing well and learning how to get along and share garage space with with her younger sister.

    the_girls.jpg

Anyway, with the usual dry-rot issues, I'm looking into some new tires. The manual (she came complete with the original user manual and expired warranty card... hmmm I wonder if Yamaha will extend it for me... heh...) says,

Rear: 120/90 - 18 (This makes sense to me)

    but...

Front: 3.25-19 (This seems odd... Dave points this spec out above)

Currently she wears a Dunlop 491 Elite II MM90-19 61H in the front and the rear has a Conti Tour 120/90-18 71H out back.

Could someone shed some light on the spec for the front tire?

When I look up the Dunlop as Dave suggested above, I see two fronts available...

    Dunlop D404 Front Tire
    100/90-19 57H
    110/90-19 62H

    Will either work?

As a side note, I'm running the Michelin Commander II's on the 700 and I absolutely love the look and performance. Though I can't get them in the size that the Seca requires it appears.

how to convert numbers Front: 3.25-19. 100/90-19 57H is the closest to 3.25 and mm90

if you want to look you will find mfgs who still use old numbers

Tony, these are exactly what I'm looking for. I like buying from Revzilla, and they do carry this exact item(s) but the price is not as good. I'm going to see if they will price match. The revzilla review video speaks to what I was thinking for my RJ. "Designed for the older bike (German, Italian, British, Japanese, etc.), but with a modern flair."

    Thank You!

BTW that Seca is in really nice shape and I'm sure you'll be quite happy with them.
