The paint I'm using on my top end ideally needs curing at high-ish temperature. I put the valve cover in the oven at 50-80 deg C (200F) for an hour which looks like it worked ok. I now want to do the head but beforehand thought I should check with you more experienced refurb guys if there's any danger of distortion I can't imagine so at that low temp but I don't want to ruin my recon head.

    Cheers

    J

I have done it. Just let it cool slowly on its own. I left mine in the oven to cool overnight.

Are the valve seals in it?

was my concern too, but then I thought if it can take the heat of the exhaust it would be good at 200 degrees or less.

can you cure it slower lower temp ?

No - it's completely bare at the moment. I think 80C should be Ok..

Its a air cooled head , it runs hotter that 200 on a normal day. Does not matter if the valve seals are in place they can take the heat.
