    check the shorty vin on your motor see if it has the same letters as the frame tag

    1981-83 XJ550 Maxim USA: 5K5
    1981-83 XJ550 Maxim Canada: 5K6

    5K6 should be on frame tag and on short vin Unless it is a US version then 5K5
