I'm just about complete rebuilding the forks on my XJ650J and wanted to treat my ride to a new set of pads as part of the process. There seems to be a lot of different pads available priced anywhere between $7 and $40+. Since I know I only have this single caliper up front, I want to get something decent for my occasional light cruising.

Any specific recommendations or advice to keep in mind when selecting a pair? They all seem to have a similar construction - semi-metallic, kevlar, and organic.

    Thanks!

organic are best suited. semi metalic will wear down your disc quickly. think of it this way for 40$ you can replace your organic pads yearly for 3 or 4 years.
your driving style would also be a factor in choosing your pads.

    pre beveled pads are best

did you rebuild the caliper yet? may as well if your doing new pads and do not remember when it was done last.

I rebuilt the caliper and master cylinder a little while ago so they should be good to go. I replaced the pads at that time but am afraid I may have gotten some oil on them - hence the current fork rebuild.

Is there any real noticeable performance difference between the metallic and organic pads? I probably put less then 1k miles on my Maxim each year so I didn't think the "wear" factor would be a big issue.

    Thanks for the help!
