Okay, I got the sprockets cleaned up and put on a new chain.
I adjusted it with about 35mm of deflection but the
chain is touching the center stand.
Is the 550 supposed to have a chain guide?
The center stand doesn't look bent.
    Any ideas?

are you using an aftermarket mac 4 to 1 exhaust? if so there is an L bracket that mounts on the left side footrest bracket that holds down the center stand to keep it from hitting chain

on stock exhaust there is a bumper that goes on muffler part 24

The bike only has the H box on it now.
    That's how I got it.

    yellow tape is for visability

the bracket is part of the mac 4 to 1 kit did not know what it was for as there are no instructions sent with kit.

some members have put emgo shorty mufflers on the 550 box with nice results

I like those shorty mufflers. I've used them on a couple of bikes in the past.
    Once on a 74 TX500 and more recently on a GL500.
On the GL I used some angled adapters so the mufflers where at the same angle as the frame.
    Turned out pretty cool.
The cool thing is I still have the chrome hangers that came with em.
I might be able to make something to hold the center stand down with them.
If I can find them that is
