I just joined the site so I wanted to say hi to everyone here.

I'm buying a xj750maxim next week. It's my first bike and I thought it would be a good idea to get involved with the community being as I'm bound to have some questions :)

Boy, you came to the right place! I'm a noob with a XJ650, and there are some great people here who not only know their stuff, but don't mind taking the time to help us new guys as well.

Well, it's a '82 that hasn't been started in almost a year. The guy i'm buying it from rode it once, bought a newer Yamaha and put the 750 into storage all in the same week.

Before the bike was stored he didn't bother to drain any fluids, so everythings just been sitting all this time (he even left gas in the tank!). Needless to say it needs some cleaning out.

Cosmetically she's almost perfect aside from a cracked mounting on the right front turn signal and a missing mirror on the same side. The seats got a small rip but thats easily dealt with.

The 2nd previous owner rebuilt the engine not long before selling it and the meter reads the bike at 20,011 miles. That seems a little low considering the age but with only 3 previous owners it looks to have been babied pretty well.

I'm getting a hell of a deal on it because he's tired of looking at it and I'm looking forward to getting into some customizations soon :D

    Thanks :)

I'm working on a couple of mod ideas that I know I'll have questions on sooner then later. I'm doing as much research as possible before I ask too much.
