as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
is there a source for the rubber boots that cover the 'float pin' on these calipers?

they are completely shot on my bike...

also does anyone have a good paint for calipers? brake fluid is pretty good at removing paint and ive got some bare spots from over the years...

The only way i found to get the rubber boots you're talking about was from another caliper. I went to all the online parts places I could find and all the local shops and no one even listed them because they are considered as part of the caliper assembly. I wound up picking up a new caliper from ebay mostly for those little guys, although the thing was in much better shape than my original, so I put it on the bike instead.

As for paint, I believe Rick recommended ceramic engine paint to me. You can get it at any autoparts place in a varie-tay of colors, but I always wanted to go with red. Rick also said he just finished stripping the paint off and polished the whole thing nice and mirror shiny. The pics looked pretty nice.

VHT Caliper paint can't be beat and it comes in a few colors.

I think that they would be a little too small, but they might fit (depending on your exact bleeder).

Look at grease fitting caps. 1098K15 at McMaster Carr page 2105. Lots of different colors. Bad part is you have to buy 100 at a crack just to try them.
On the bright side if they work you could sell the group the other 98 pcs for $2 a pair and make a little extra $

You can also look at their dust caps for quick couplings. I'm sure one of them would work...but again you can't be sure.

Look in on Chacal's Parts For Sale in the for sale forum, Page 5. We're trying to source the boots as we speak. Worst case, I'll see if I can't get some engineering company to whip out 100 or so.
