    Hi, folks!

I'm Justin, I live in Arlington, Texas (between Dallas and Fort Worth). I just bought my first bike of all time, a 1981 Yamaha XJ750 Seca, and I absolutely love it, but it does need some work. I know limited car mechanics, but damn near nothing about bikes. This is a whole different world for me, so I'm here to dive in, learn as much as I can, and hopefully fix this thing up a little bit over time.

    Good to meet you!

I see braided brake lines and a conventional master cylinder, 4-1 exhaust (but kept the air box, good thing there), what I think are Daytona bars, and the ultra-rare dipping rear turn signal. How's she run? Have you taken a rider's course yet?

Are those Maxim turn signals? Would the missing rear mounts and pegs fit with the aftermarket exhaust it he wanted to carry a passenger?

Hey, k-moe! I see you're pretty much the man around here.. haha thanks for your input. I didn't know so many changes had been made.
I don't know about the braided lines or master cylinder. Not crazy about that exhaust at all, or at least the muffler. Previous owner had cafe-style bars on it, but he dropped the bike and the bars dented the gas tank there on the left side, so I'm assuming that's why the guy I bought it from replaced them. That also explains the "dipping" turn signal, scratches on some of the body work, missing left side panel there over the electronics, and the damaged instrument cluster:

She ran well for about a month and a half after I got her (only riding a few times a week, short trips), but she's actually dead right now. I'll be posting in the Technical Chat section about that before I take it to the shop.
Yes, I've taken the course and have been riding for a couple of years. Still don't actually have a motorcycle license because I just haven't bothered to swing by DPS, though..

No idea about the turn signals. Really confused about the passenger pegs! I went to take my girlfriend out and realized there was nowhere for her to put her feet. I can't even tell where pegs are supposed to go...

    Those are aftermarket signals.

I may have a gauge cluster cover that is in better condition than that one. I'll have to look over the weekend.
