    Hey guys!

I have noticed some leaks in my enignge, and it's time to replace all seals and O-rings. I ordered a full gasket set and I have started to prepare.

I was wondering if any of you guys have experience with this and would want to give me some pointers, tips & hints and things to think about before I start cracking?

I do have the Haynes manual and will follow this bible! Just after some thoughs and experiences

    Kind regards
    Andre

Split the cases, and replace the alternator chain guide, the starter clutch rollers, and the starter clutch springs while you have the engine out. This is much more work, but will save you from having to do it later.

Use Locktite 515 or 518 instead of Yamabond or Threebond. The Locktite is anaerobic and much easier and safer to work with.

Oh, heat the alternator chain guide retaining bolts before trying to remove them. Yamaha used Yamabond (or something) to lock them in place, and the bolts will tend to want to snap if you don't soften the sealer.
