Just a quick little note to let you know what I'm playing with now.
Mr. Brown (UPS) Dropped these off the other day.

Anyone that knows me. Knows that I am not a fan of the weed wacker mag wheels that come stock on our bikes. I much prefer the good Old School looks of wire spoke wheels.

You may have read my write up on the Virago 700 wheels here.
    http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/threads/wire-wheels-and-a-150-rear-virago-700-style.34143/

The Question of the 535 Virago wheels always comes up in any discussion about wire wheels.
So this time I am going to attempt to answer that question.

I am looking at Virago 535 wheels on stock XJ750 Maxim forks/swing arm. Using stock XJ750 Maxim brakes. There are still a lot of little details to work out, but it looks promising enough to start collecting parts for the hands on experiments.

    Be forewarned!
Basic maintenance procedures will be required!

Will do the full write up if/when all the details are worked out, and the mock up is complete.

I knew that would get your attention!
Let me know when you get it in your possession. I might need you to check a couple things for me.

This thread is relevant to my interests, and I would love to put wire spokes on my XJ700. I have a saved search on eBay for the 700 Virago wheels, but so far no luck after 2+ years of searching.

As far as finding the xv700 spoked wheels. You pretty much have to find a parts bike. They are nearly impossible to find separately anymore.

I will look into the XJ700 interchange while I am at it. Worst case for the 700 may be a fork/brake swap to 82-83 XJ750 Maxim.

@Bigshankhank If you have a set of calipers. Preferably metric. Could you get me measurement outside to outside on the rotors as mounted on the wheel?
The 5 spoke wheel should be easy to go straight through the wheel for this.
