    Hi guys,

Lately, I noticed that shifting in second gear on my xj750x 85 was harder at high RPMs.
In fact, when shifting at high RPMs to second gear, it feels like the gear wants to "bounce" back to neutral.

It will still go in second gear if I apply enough force when shifting but it doesn't feel "right".

Any thoughts on what could be going on ? Maybe the clutch can't match the spinning gears at high rpms ?

    Thanks !

First guess. Worn or broken springs on the shifter. External
Second guess. Worn or damaged shift forks or gear dogs. Internal

It is certainly possible that your clutch is not fully disengaging. Is the cable adjusted properly? How much free play is present at the lever/perch?
