Ok.. As much as I love my 550, it's not very comfortable for the missus... so I'm looking at another bike, in this case - an '81 XS1100S. 8O

The owner wants $950 for it... It has less than 20K, clear title. One carb dumping a little gas in the airbox, probably a stuck float.. no big deal. The previous owner (not the current one) ran into something with it, so the instrument cluster had to be replaced. The bike runs fine, but the lady does not want to fix the minor things, so she's getting rid of it.

What are your thoughts on the XS11'? What is the last S for in the XS1100S? I remember hearing that they're great on the straightaways, but not much in the turning department.... but, comparing to what? My 550 doesn't exactly lean like a sportsbike.

well... looks like I'm going to pick it up. It needs a little TLC, but it's in better shape than my 550 was when I got it :)

I'll post pics when it gets home.

Well Stereo, I've owned two of them and never got to ride either of them. Turned around and sold them the week after I bought them. Offers were made that were too good to pass on. My impression is that they are comfortable and have plenty of zoot to get you and the missus moving.
