Electricity is really Greek to me, fortunately my XJ has been good in the 'lectrical arena.

So all read is; blah blah circuit, blah blah ohms, blah blah resistance, blah blah coils, blah blah wasted spark. . . but what does it mean? Hopefully if/ when the day comes that I need help the guru's of gamma can speak real simple like and bring a brief case of patience.
    Meanwhile I try to read and understand . . . o_O

Thanks everyone. My bike is fixed now. The problem was a dirty/corroded connection at the CDI.

    Cool beans!
For pedantic (but important) future reference: you have a TCI. A CDI accomplishes the same task, but in a different enough way that you can't swap one for the other.

By swap one for the other I mean that you can't plug a CDI in to the wiring that's there and have it work.
