Do i need the rear plastic mudguard beneath the fender? Im in the middle of a cafe build and the rear mudguard in blocked my seat from sitting flush. So my question is, will removing the rear mudguard expose my battery/regulator/underside of the seat to dangerous conditions? Im having the frame cute next week then properly mounting the new seat, but i just want to know for now if its better to remove/cut/or leave the rear plastic mudgaurd alone?
Thanks for the help, this site has been fantastic through this project!

Kinda depends on riding conditions. A dry bar hopper, you could probably get away without it. If you ride in the rain, it'll save some future headaches. Maybe try and trim to fit if it suits your build but I run without mine as its my sunny day bar hopper type of bike. I never find cafes or bobbers as practical daily riders.

well im also in southern California, so rain is a very rare condition. However sand and dirt are. My real concern is for my battery and regulator. And since im a bartender technically its a commuter AND a bar hopper. ha Im doing the battery relocate next week after my frame cut, so should i just wait?

I've decided to just cut my current mudguard to comfortably feat the seat and line up with the new riser pad (that is in the mail). I was thinking the same thing...nothing worse than sand in your..."seat"...thankfully not too many desert runs yet so my "seat" is safe from rattlers :D
