    Hi All,
I bought an 83 xj650 maxim in August, and this thing was in bad shape. It had been left outside for a few months, and before that it was in a garage for like 10 years. The previous owner said that he had it running last summer, but after pulling the carbs apart I doubt it. The tank is rusty as all get out on the inside, and looks like someone tried to put a liner in it without cleaning any of the rust out. There is also numerous holes along the left side of the tank. I decided recently to just go ahead and replace the tank, and purchased one that seems to be in pretty good shape off of Ebay. I have already read the posts about the tanks transferring from certain frames to others, and that the maxim seat will have to be modified, but I was wandering if anyone had any pictures of their 650 maxim with a 750 seca tank installed with or without the maxim seat so that I can see what it could look like. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

I repositioned the mounting pad to lift the rear of the tankabout 2" from stock height.

Do you see those triple clamp thingies, and the metal sticks what your hands grab onto.....

    Give'em a turn or two...slowly...

Thanks for all the replies guys. Dave, I have read a few of your posts about tank swaps, that is why I went with the 750 seca tank. I am happy with all of the pictures that I have found, and cannot wait to get home to slide the new tank on, so I can see it. I have been away from the bike for a little over a week, and it sucks knowing I not only have the tank at home waiting for me, but I also have parts from Chacal waiting also. Dave, thank you it is good to know that you are just down the road if I need help. I have to say this site has been a great help working on this bike, more than the manuals in some ways.
