We have a "Money is no object" thread on the go already, so I wanna take this one in another direction. What bike would you choose if you could only have one? This would be your everything bike, so it would have to cruise, commute, maybe pick up a few things around town, and perhaps carve a corner or two as well. And since it's a daily driver, perhaps a 30 year old bike isn't the best idea?

It would also fall into the "Money is no object" category.

Hey - good enough for Neil Peart; good enough for me!

Yeah, already got one of those. It's gathering squirrel poop in my garage. I'm hoping for some input for my second bike. You know, one I could actually ride someday! Maybe I should've called the thread "If you had to choose just one second bike" lol

Heritage Softail Classic fits 3 of 4 for me (cruise, commute, and perhaps carve a corner or two). It also falls in the money is no object category and considering I spent more on my XJ project than any car I've owned it's not happening anytime soon.

If I'm going for all 4 and new, Yamaha Bolt C Spec.

Outside that the XJ has fit the bill quite nicely for the last 5 months.

    A second bike?

Probably a wide glide. Im 6'7" and so the stretch would be nice. Im admittedly swayed by the "cult of harley" because of family and friends, even though I think Yamaha makes far superior bikes.

My 550 maxim has earned a high place on my list of bikes, though. I sometimes consider trading in/up for an xs1100 or a venture, but i just have this feeling I wouldnt be anywhere as happy as I am with my little 550.

Yamaha raider.. Torquey, powerful, light as a feather, great for two up, corners like a dream, comfortable, and sleek.

Guess I'm biased though, because I own one. It's a very well rounded bike though.

LOL, I'm the 1st to admit, KLR's are not great off road or great on road, but they will do both. I have a group of close friends, at least 8 of us who all ride KLR's. We all have street bikes and most of us also have real dirt bikes. When we ride as a group we're on the KiLleRs! It's a blast riding slow bikes fast.

I was just poking fun. If you want to ride around the world slowly, there's probably no better machine.

I've been 'married' to my XJ550 Maxim for over 30 years. Haven't even really considered another bike...
