    Hi all,
New boy here so be gentle with me,

Posted recently about the 600N I've just rescued, while checking gear selection found that when in gear and clutch held disengaged it is still well and truly in gear, so much that I can turn the engine over with the clutch held in and turning rear wheel.
Have reset the release arm so the clutch cable is just slack with all the adjusters wound in to get maximum movement of the arm, still clutch is not disengaging and can turn engine over with clutch held in.
Is it possible for the clutch assembly to have been assembled wrong ?
Thought I'd ask before tearing clutch cover off.

    Thanks

If this is happening while on the centerstand, then you have a normal condition.
If this is happening while both tires are on the ground, then you have an issue that will require further investigation (likely an overstretched clutch cable).

The desctiption of how you have the cable adjusted sounds incorrect to me.

you stated the bike had been sitting for a few years it could be that the clutch plates are gummy and stuck
after adjusting clutch as to the links above you could treat the oil with Seafoam or other type solvent to see if it cleans it up.
it is not uncommon for the clutch to stick after sitting for a few years mine all were and it just took a little rocking back and forth with a little seafoam in the oil.
run it for a while to mix it up and cycle the clutch

if you start the bike on the ground with bike in gear and clutch pulled in does it want to move?

As I said, it is well and truly in gear with the clutch lever pulled in, this is without the engine running. I can turn the back wheel and it will turn the engine over.
XJ, I think you're right, it has been standing a few years probably stuck together, I've been lucky so far so am not bothered about pulling the clutch apart.

k-moe, thanks, I adjusted the cable/arm to get maximum travel on the arm in the hope it may have released the plates.
Another job to keep me amused, by the way, any decent suppliers for the Clutch cover gasket ? I know there are some on fleabay and for what the gasket is they are optimistic with the prices !!
    Cheers guys.
