New 1981 XJ650 Maxim Owner / First Bike

    I've been mulling over the idea to buy my first motorcycle for the past two years now and I finally pulled the trigger. Picked up two bikes, one with a title and one without and neither of them run. Both are low miles, and of course the bike without a title has all of the nice shiny parts so it'll basically be swapping the frames and servicing everything while it's all apart.

    I'm Dan, 23, and in the Seattle area. A build thread will be coming soon enough if I remember to take pictures along the way. Hopefully I learn something along the way lol, I'll be posting questions I have as they come up

    Start with compression checks on both engines. Shiny does not mean that it works.
