Rebuilding the carbs on my 82 XJ650 and on carb #2 the main fuel jet wasn't coming easily and I kinda "wollered" out the slot in it a little. Actually ended up removing it with a pair of pliers. Image below, the jet hole itself is fine as well as the threads. Is it ok to re-use or do I need to order a replacement and wait on it to get here to continue with this one.

Technically if the bore is unmarred and not restricted and the threads are good - no problem.
If it were mine (I am so very cheap, and rather broke after a long unemployment run) I would clean up the head a bit, make the slot pretty, make sure the flange 'bottom' was square and then reuse it.

Someone posted on here that it is wise to (have a JIS) to go to a rummage sale get a couple old flat head screwdrivers, bust out the grinding wheel and make those blades a custom fit for the slotted jets, air fuel mixture etc.

I have three modified flatheads in my XJ drawer, cause what happened to you kinda sucks. Puts a hitch in your giddy up just when you thought everything was going so well.

I'd replace it, because it will eventually need to be removed again, and jets are cheap. Or you can cut a slot 90º to the existing slot.

+1. If you buy new it'll end up the same way without a good fit tool.
