That's the split that allows the retaining ring to go on. Normal. Ignore.

Does this look ok? It's a bit blurry but gnat thought I should get a second opinion on it to my untrained eye it looks fine but he is the one working on it and thought it looked a bit worn.....

Kind of blurry but it looks like there is a witness mark on the tip where it seats. I would err on the side of caution and replace it (all 4).

The very tip looks like broken or worn out, same for the sides, so I'd replace the four of them.

When was the last time that YOU replaced the float needles?
Even viton has a use-by date.

I personally never have, there was another member who was helping me rebuild the bike and he had done most of the initial carb work, he had replaced some( not sure if all) the needles... But not sure what all he actually did and what he claims he did as I've found several other things that were "done" but really were not....

Um....that doesn't look fine...... It doesn't look a bit worn........it looks like junk. No tip, toss it. Toss all 4 and get metal-tip ones

I'll have to look around for the metal tipped ones but for now I'm gonna have to make these ones work...Oh and the broken one has been replaced....

Get new metal tipped ones from Len. Get a. Set of four. If you try to piece-meal it my bet is you're gonna keep farting around with it and never get it right.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother with keeping those old ones

I'll see what I can do next month but as of now I don't have the extra money to spend on it, just ordered tires for my jeep.....It will get done as I have the extra money to shell out on it

Well this IS the Hnagout Lounge . . . So here I go!

    Oh . . . A jeep
    Just Empty Every Pocket.
I had a 93 YJ, inline 6, 2.5" Old Man Emu suspension and 33 x 9.5 BFG's. Another one of my materialistic joys . . . loved dear old Helen (Helen Wheels). Her frame rusted through and fortunately split and gave way when my wife was driving up the driveway (instead of on the freeway).
Gots me a TJ now (coil springs are SO boring) wth a 2.5L 5 speed. No lift, no bells, no whistles. Just a leaky radiator (come on spring!) and a bad resistor pack for the blower . . . Oh and a fried oil pressure sensor. o_O

You did not buy a Jeep. They stopped making them in the late 70's (some say the late 60's). ;)

This snarky comment brought to you by the owner of a KJ (with an AMC sticker on the back window).

Haha yeah I had the trans rebuilt and radiator replaced in mine already but can't complain too much since they were both a good bit passed their expected wear life....
