Chacal, if you're out there I'd like to order 4-#122 main jets and 4-#41 primary jets for my bone stock 1982 xj750rj Seca. The bike is really bone stock except for the 4/1 Vance&Hines header that was recently installed by the previous owner. The bike runs strong, except it pings at about 5k and is running hot. The carbs are off (#120 mains and and #40 pilots) the bike and I'm following your article for cleaning the carbs (just got started today) and hopefully the jet change will alleviate my detonation problem. Valves are checked and I also checked timing, so I guess I need a somewhat richer mixture that will fatten up the midrange . Wish I could shim the needles but that doesn't seem to be a viable solution with the stock needle setup. Plug insulators are white and so is the electrode. I tried NJK B8's at .034 and they actually did nothing to reduce pinging at midrange . I need to know how I can pay you for these jets. I'm pretty much going by your formula for rejetting for the stock xj750 engine with stock airbox, stock air filter and a 4/1 header. Thank you for your time ; hope to hear from you soon. Bruce

Start a conversation with him. @chacal.

Jetting is what you need. The needles don't usually need to be shimmed, but shimming is possible with washers (or you an buy an aftermarket setup).
Ignition timing is non-adjustable, so just check valve timing with the marks and valve clearances.
Go back to the stock plug. Running a cooler plug is not a solution to a fueling issue.

I agree that jetting is a start, at least to chase away the ping at midrange; I'm new to your forum...I guess I've reading previous posts and have especially been reading your threads. This forum is lucky to have someone as resourceful, and helpful as yourself. I'm 69 years old and this will probably be my last bike due to health issues; so I need to know how I can procure the needed jets to get this bike back on the road. Again, I would like to purchase 4-#122 mains and 4-#41 pilot jets. I know you sell parts to help out the forum's members but I know nothing of the ordering/payment process. Thank you for your quick response...I'll be looking instructions as to how to buy those parts from you. Bruce

You misunderstand. I am not he.

Click on the link (Chacal's name in my prior post). A window will pop up. In that there will be a link that says "Start a Conersation." Click on that and let Chacal (Len) know what you need.
I wan to see you riding happy before you have to give it up for good :)

We might be able to get you a good deal on some NJ Jets. We have different sizes too... tight end's produce a lot of speed at the top end and the defensive line produces a lot of torque at the low end. just pick a number.

My apologies, I just have a strong opinion about the owner of the LAMBS.

Please do not ditch the stock airbox...stay away from PODS like they are the plague ... Another place for jets is Jets R Us.com ... But I would try xj4ever (Chacal) first by all means.
