Hey all....I've got an 81 550 maxim....it came from the PO with slip on Jardine slash cut muffler tips......it's got no baffles, at all.....it wasn't so annoying before I put the windshield on a few years ago, but now......I'd like to give my ears, and anyone behind me, a little bit of a break....the inside diameter of these tips is about 72-73 mm....I've checked jardines Web site and several others, and even ebay....the biggest universal Baffles I can find only go up to 60 mm....I recently just rebuilt the entire break system with some great parts from len...sooooo...my budget for bike parts right now is very slim....so I ask....does any one know of a place to get this size baffle? Or another way to easily and cheaply quiet my ride? Homemade maybe? On another note, if I did manage to get a baffle in them, since it's basically straight pipe, would I need to rejet? TIA for your input!

    ear plugs:rolleyes:

is the exhaust stock except for the mufflers?

rejetting would depend on what the po did when installing the noise makers

you could put some discs in the muffler to tune the sound .
start by holding a soda /red bull can in there to see how it affects the sound

doing plug chops would tell you what you need to do .
what do your plugs look like now?

I think there is a thread by someone who modified his baffels

Danny Duzit. They won't catch on fire either. Packed a many header megaphone with these, and they last.

There's no baffle plate in it what so ever....pure straight pipe....some of the universal after market baffle deals would work if I could find the right size....the slip on tips have two holes to attach a baffle but I can't find the size....had to come back and add on...as best as I can tell yes the rest of the exhaust system is stock, 4 into 2 at the collector box then pipe back to the slip on tips....

Another #1 for SS pot scrubbers.

If you want it really quiet, pick up two banannas while you're at the store....

Sounds like you're asking for a XXX video.
