20170316_165205.jpg The famous ACE Cafe of London is opening up a location in Orlando. Should be in the next 3 t0 6 months before they open. They held a promotion booth at the Daytona Flat Track TT race this week and asked our riding club for people who would like to display their cafe or vintage bike at their boot. Took two bikes over (82 XJ550 SECA and 76 KZ900) and got to watch the flat track races for free. Too bad the event wasn't the road races. Had fun with my 12 year old son who enjoyed the day of racing too. Two Indian Scouts won 1st and 2nd in the Twin division race. First time in a very long time at Daytona, if ever.

Indian motorcycles won more than a few races at Dayona when the track was on the beach. I think the last time was in the late 40's.

Yeah Moe, it was fun. Came as nice surprise. Figured they raced way back. Nice to see a part of Americana history come to the top again. On a the singles race, Dalton Gauthier won on an Yamaha of course. It was a Yamaha YZ450F. Yamaha didn't do so well in the twins unfortunately. Didn't Kenny Roberts come out of Flat Track? Not sure if he raced Yamaha on the Flat Tracks. Will have to google that one.

Yes KR Sr. did start on flat tracks (so did jr.). He raced for Yamaha, eventually riding the baddest 2-stroke machine that ever saw the dirt.
