For those of us that have cold winters, what do you normally do in the spring to get the bike ready?
I rode my bike anytime the temperature got above 50, so it hasn't been sitting, but...

Thinking tire pressures, re-sync and check mixture, oil change?
When does the non-winter-mix fuel return to the stations?

Tire pressure, check battery electrolyte level, check the oil level (basically a full pre-ride check), take the rags out of the exhaust and intake, start the bike, ride it, fill the tank with new gas when the red light comes on.
My pre-storage prep is what allows the spring to go smoothly.

That's the first time I've heard about using rags. I will give that a shot next winter.

I use duct tape and then put a piece on my ignition key hole - to remind me.
Hoping to leave work today and fire her up.

I do basically the same as Kmoe, minus the rags. I intended to add steel wool in the exhaust and intake, but never got around to it.

I use old socks... cotton won't scratch my shiny mufflers, and holds them on there really well, and I can shove the excess in the hole to keep critters out. I agree though, pre-storage is huge, and can be used as a massive preventative maintenance program... you discover problems in the late fall, and have 4-5 months to save for and purchase parts. Springtime, take a day and reassemble. I usually ride enough that I need to check my valves and such in the spring anyway, so it ends up being a basic overhaul.

    Install battery. Fire it up.
Sit back and watch it F'n Pour Rain for days on end.
