Headlight and gauge lights were on now there's nothing

    hi I have a 1980 xj 650 that is a project bike the first time I got it running all the lights worked and since haven't been able to get anything to light up any help would be awesome thanks

    Thanks for the reply I have a different fuse box set up and they're all in good shape I'm thinking it's a relay or something along those lines

    The boxes pictured in the link are the aftermarket replacment fuse boxes.
    Here is a link that shows the factory box:
    HOW TO: Install an aftermarket fuse box
    Please check the connections for continuity at the crimps. Cracked fuse clips are the most likely cause for your problem. Looking good does not mean that they are good.


    The only relay that is associated with the lights just controls the headlight. None of the other lights go through a relay.

    Have you measured voltage at any of the bulb sockets?

    I'm here to learn and not being disrespectful but as I suspected it was a headlight relay that was burnt luckily I had one on my parts bike

    No worries. I'm glad that you found the problem. It's odd that the headlight relay caused the other lights to go out, since it's on a dedicated circuit. If it were my bike I'd want to investigate further to see if there is a short
