You know what I see in that picture... ezy out... Man... chacal has the replacement mix screws as they are fine and course threaded plus he does a thread tap to fix a slightly mangled thread.
Give him a PM, he'll get you underway.
... arrrgh ezy out... man I swear I have never had one work.

It looks to be a milling drill bit to make a clean hole for the easy out

are you asking about the thread pitch ? there are course and fine pitch threads on them depending on when the carbs were manufactured.

    Mikuni or Hitachi?
32 or 33's? - or whatever other sizes they come in?
As XJ550H said, the pitch/ diameter varies with different carbs.

Or take a screw out of one of the 3 remaining carbs and measure the threads . . . .

The owner can get me the info this evening. I was just hoping to finish the job while it was on the machine without have to setup again.

I don't know if they're Hitachi or mikuni - no marking that I can see.

To measure size what do I measure - intake throat at airbox side - intake bore at engine side - or slide dia?

Hitachi fine thread mix screws (this is what should be on 1982-83 XJ650 Hitachi carbs and all XJ750 Hitachi carbs):
    m6 x .50tp

Hitachi coarse thread mix screws (should be on 1980-81 XJ650 Hitachi carbs, maybe some early 1982 XJ650 Hitachi carbs): m6 x .75tp

P.S. those are Hitachi carbs in your image, and if they were Mikuni carbs, you'd know it, as they have the word MIKUNI cast into the side of the body (Hitachi carbs just have a small "snowflake" type figure cast into them).
