headlight mod help xj650 1982

    i have this bike traded a rifle for it that i never used figured id have more fun on the bike been fixing it up a lil bit hear and there would like to put a newer cooler looking halo headlight on it what the big difference between halogen and led and how hard is it to make the swap i guess is my question heres a picture of the bike for help any advice or help would be much appreciated

    LED will require that you do a lot of looking to find a good light that is both DOT compliant, and throws a proper pattern (this is getting easier to do as the LED manufacturers realize that people aren't so willing to buy crap as thery were a few years ago). It is a much more straightforward conversion, but you won't easily find on in the stock size.

    The big headlight makes the bike IMHO, and a new halogen bulb is a lot less expensive than an equivalent LED headlamp.

    "builders" take note.
    The XJ pictured above looks really cool, and has not had the frame hacked to bits. It could go back to being mostly stock in a long weekend (two for paint). This is a good thing. Cake + eat it two when this already collectable machine becomes stupid-expensive.
